Watt is basically the SI unit of Power.
POWER -- Power of a person/machine/system is defined as the rate of doing work by it. Alternately, power may also be defined as the rate of transfer of energy.
UNITS OF POWER (WATT) --
The SI unit of power is called watt in the honour of James watt (who vastly improved the design and working of a steam engine.)
Also, the power is said to be one unit, if rate of doing work (is one unit in one second. Thus, in SI system, power is said to be a watt (1 W) if work is being done at a rate of 1 joule per second.
