Sarojini Naidu, née Sarojini Chattopadhyay, (born February 13, 1879, Hyderabad, India—died March 2, 1949, Lucknow), political activist, feminist, poet, and the first Indian woman to be president of the Indian National Congress and to be appointed an Indian state governor.

Sarojini Naidu was born on 13 february 1879. she was an Indian political activist and poet. She was an important figure in india's struggle for independence from british rule. Naidu work as a poet and earned tittle "Nightingale of india ".
She was born in a Bengali family in Hyderabad, she got education in Chennai, London and Cambridge.
Later, She became part of the indian national congress and became the follower of Gandhi. Then she became the governor of the United Provinces in 1947. she was the first women to hold the office of Governor in Dominion of India. She died of a cardiac arrest on 2 march 1949.
