Article 15:

  • 'Article 15' deals with the discrimination of the citizens. It is a fundamental right given to citizens against the discrimination done to them on the basis of caste, religion, race, place of birth or sex.
  • The discrimination on the basis of all such parameters is the only parameter on which protection is provided.  
  • It also includes protection against the practice of untouchability and ensures accessibility of individual to all public places such as parks, museums, wells, temples and bathing ghats.  
  • However, it provides additional support to weaker sections such as reservation to SC and ST community in education and job.
  • Also, protection to women and children is provided in order to upgrade their position and provide social justice to such sections.
