Introduction of Black Soil. Black soil in India is rich in metals such as Iron, Magnesium and Aluminum. However it is deficient in Nitrogen, Potassium, Phosphorous and Humus. Black soil is of red colour mainly due to its iron oxide content.

Black soil contains high percentage of humus , phosphoric acid,ammonia and phosphorus.This soil is very fertile and can produce high agricultural yields with it's high moisture story capacity.It is fine textured and clayey in nature.It is black in color as it is formed from lava rocks.Also, highly retentivity of water.

Black soil is also known as 'Black Cotton Soil'

we can grow cotton,jowar,maize ,ragi , tobacco etc. crops in this soil.
