Hi dear !!!!!!!!

Your Short notes on glycolysis ----

Glycolysis is the first step of aerobic respiration in which respiratory substance glucose broken down into 3 carbon containing compound .
Pyruvic acid and glycolysis occurred in cytoplasm that is why glycolysis I called cytoplasmic respiration . Glycolysis is also called" EMP "pathway because it was discovered by 3 scientist " Embeden , Mayerhalf and Paranus " .

Glycolysis is defined as an enzymatic breakdown of glucose molecule in to two molecules of pyruvic acid and energy in a form of ATP molecules and 2 molecules of NADH.

The whole reaction of Glycolysis takes places in cytoplasm is given in the mentioned below reaction:

C6H12O6 + 2 NAD+ + 2 ADP + 2 P -----> 2 pyruvic acid, (CH3(C=O)COOH + 2 ATP + 2 NADH + 2 H+

The NADH molecules produced in Glycolysis will later be used in Electron Transport chain reaction.

In order to function, our cells need a constant source of energy. The ATP produced in glycolysis is used up by cells to perform their normal functions.
