One measure of standard of living is the United Nations' Human Development Index(HDI), which scores 188 different countries based on factors including life expectancy at birth, education and income per capita.
The health dimension is assessed by life expectancy at birth, the education dimension is measured by mean of years of schooling for adults aged 25 years and more and expected years of schooling for children of school entering age. The standard of living dimension is measured by gross national income per capita.

Human Development Index is used to find out if a person is under - nourished or over - nourished or the person is absolutely fit. if HDI of a person is above 25, he is over nourished and if its below 25, he is under nourished.

HDI = square of height / weight
