Kulhs and guhls are rainwater harvesting systems often used in western Himalyas.

These are narrow channels of water which divert some water from the river to the agricultural fields for irrigation.

Hope this helps you:)

It has been more than four hundred years when parts of Himachal Pradesh had evolved a local system of canal irrigation called kuhls . There were some manmade water channels and the water flowing in the streams was diverted into those channels which finally took this water to many villages down the hill. The concept of kuhls was common among all the villages and the water flowing in these kuhls was properly managed by the villagers.
