As against , authority is termed as the right possessed by a person to give the command to others . Power is personal trait. Authority is formal right given to the high officials . Source of Power is knowledge and expertise. While the source of Authority is Position and Office. Power does not follows any hierarchy. Authority follows hierarchy. Power resides with person . Authority resides with designation.
