Every human being has a city of choice. They think of that town as their dream city. Some think of their city as a dream city, while others think of another city. Like everyone else, I have a city of love. To me, it’s like a dream town. But, that city of dreams has become a reality to me. The town of my goals is Kolkata.
I live in Kolkata. It is the second-largest town in India. In terms of beauty, this town is always at the top. Even, it is one of the top metro cities. Kolkata belongs to West Bengal. “City of Joy” is another name for it. Today, I will discuss why Kolkata is my dream city and what is here.
Every place has its history. Just like that, this town also has some history, which we know a bit. Kolkata’s History, Culture, Heritage, and Festival is for all this, and it is my dream town. Calcutta was established in 1686. At first, it was a colonial town.
Then, the East India Company developed it through their British Empire. Until 1911, it was the center of the British. However, in August 1690, Job Charnock discovered Calcutta. Until 2001, the official name of Kolkata was Calcutta.
This city is far ahead in terms of culture. The people of Kolkata celebrate all the festivals. That is the culture here. Moreover, Durga Puja is the most famous of the Kolkata festivals. Lots of people from outside come here to see this festival. During the festival there are fairs on the side of the road, even, there are many food shops. All these are our town’s culture and tradition.
Kolkata is well known as a tourist destination. Lots of people come from outside to see the historical sites here. Some heritage places are Victoria Memorial, Museum, Marble Palace, Belur Math, etc. Besides, some other famous sites are Zoo, Town Hall, Dakshineswar, coffee-houses and Kali ghat, etc.
Even, Horse-drawn carriages in Kolkata are a heritage. Not only that, but yellow taxis, Hand-pulled rickshaws, are all under our heritage.
Moreover, Kolkata food, especially biryani, is trendy. We all love to eat this. Apart from this, Kolkata’s street food like Fuchka, Velpuri, etc., is quite famous. The road here is always full of cars and crowds in the morning. Even every road has lighting.
