Ladies and gentlemen, this adage has been one of my favourites ever since my introduction to the world of English proverbs. We must be aware of the consequences or outcome before taking any decision or indulging in any act. Sometimes the outcome could be favourable, but at other times it could be unfavourable too. It is, therefore, better to weigh the pros against the cons before getting into the act.

In sport, as in war, we may win the game or battle, but there is a chance that we may lose too. Hence, before jumping into the fray we must take appropriate measures so that the chances of our victory is maximised. In running Governments or Business, our politicians and captains of industry are calculative and careful; they do not dive headlong into a scheme or project before weighing the merits against the demerits or chances of success against the chances of failure.

So, one must look before one leaps, otherwise the leap could end up in a miserable failure.

Thank you!
