Jesse Owens had a dark skin complexion. The nazis(Germans), the so called "Master Race", were very fair.
The Nazis, under Adolf Hitler, wanted the white people to win, so that they could show their supremacy over the dark-skinned.
However, at 22 Jesse Owens was a very promising athlete. Surpassing all odds, Owens won 4 gold medals. The belief of the Nazis had shattered in front of there own eyes.
