hey mate!
A galvanometer can be considered as ammeter by connecting a LOW resistance (shunt) in parallel with it.
value of resistance must be law so that we can measure the accurate value of current without any loss .
Rs = Ig Rg / nIg - Ig
where , Rs = shunt

The resistance of an ammeter should be low because it is used for measuring electric current which is connected in series.Infact an ideal ammeter has zero resistance.
