Should we hold a thermometer by it's bulb? Why or why not?

It is advised not to hold the thermometer by its bulb while reading the temperature because the level of Mercury increases due to our body temperature and effect the actual reading. ... Celsius thermometer temperature ranges from 35° C to 42° C. In a Fahrenheit thermometer temperature ranges from 94° F to 108° F.
