Answer:

To find :

how to  connect two resistors to produce a combined resistance of

(a) 2

(b) 8 ohm

Solving Question:

The resistors could be connected in different combinations to get the required the resistance.

Solution:

(a) 2Ω

To get the 2Ω resistance ,we can use parallel connection of 4Ω resistor.

\implies \dfrac{1}{R_p}= \dfrac{1}{4}+\dfrac{1}{4}=\dfrac{2}{4}\\\\\implies \dfrac{1}{R_p}=\dfrac{2}{4}\implies R_P=\dfrac{4}{2}=2\:ohm

Parallel Connection:

Connecting two or more resistors between two points in a circuit is called parallel connection.

(b) 8Ω

To get the 8Ω resistance, we can use series connection of 4Ω resistors.

4+4=8\:ohm

series connection:

Connecting two or more resistors end to end are known as series connection.
