the larvae of the silk moth are called silkworm. Silkworm hatch from the eggs laid by the silk moths. Once the silkworm hatches out of the egg, it starts to consume mulberry leaves for twenty to thirty days in which it changes its skin four times.

After the change of skin four times, the silkworm spins a cocoon to protect itself during the development process of the pupa.
