General formula for power dissipated in an Inductor connected to AC

P = Vrms( I rms) cosФ

For an ideal inductor, resistance is zero and voltage leads the current by a phase angle π/2.

∴ Ф = π/2

P = Vrms ( I rms) cosπ/2

P = 0
