In a right angled ∆ABC, let us assume ∠B=90°
Since ∠A + ∠B + ∠C = 180°....[Sum of all angles of the triangle are 180°.] ∠A + ∠C = 90°
Hence ∠B is greatest angle in ∆ABC
We know that the side opposite to greatest angle in a triangle is the longest side
Therefore side opposite to ∠B is AC
Hence AC > BC and AC > AB
That is AC, the hypotenuse, is the longest side
