Show that oxidation and reduction go side by side by taking a suitable example.

whenever there is oxidation of a certain substance reduction also occurs side by side.

Ex-1
Mg + O2 ---> MgO
:-Here Mg is getting oxidised whereas oxygen is getting reduced
