(A) By qualitative definition we mean that it just justifies the presence of force and does not gives a way to measure it.

It could be shown as under:

Place a book on a table.

Is it moving? No.

Push it. Does it move? Yes

Can you tell the force you applied to it for to move? No.

This is qualitative definition of force ,i.e., It is required to move a body from one place to another and needed to bring about motion in a body.

(B) For quantitative definition we need to know the amount of force required to bring about the motion in the body.

Get a friction less platform and put a crate on it after you have weighed its weight.

Attach a few dynamometers on your arm and a few accelerometers to the crate and try to push it. Record the readings from both the devices.

Dynamometer gives the force you applied.

Accelerometer gives you the acceleration of the crate.

Multiply the acceleration with the weight of the box and divide it by acceleration due to gravity at that place to get evaluate the force you applied ,i.e., force = weight×accelration g = mass × accelaration

Do the two values (the one you obtained directly from the dynamometer and the one that you evaluated)of force match? They should if you did everything correctly as mentioned above.
