BY FACTOR THOREM,

The zero of the polynomial ( x - √2 ) is √2

___________________________________________

Substitute the zero of the polynomial in,

7 {x}^{2} - 2 \sqrt{8} x - 6

7 {( \sqrt{2} )}^{2} - 2 \sqrt{8} ( \sqrt{2} ) - 6

7 \times 2 - 2 \sqrt{16} - 6

14 - 2 \times 4 - 6

14 - 8 - 6

14 - 14
