The reactivity series of metals are as follows:
1. Potassium
2. Sodium
3. Calcium
4. Magnesium.
5. Aluminium.
6. Zinc
7. Iron
8. Tin
9. Lead
10. Hydrogen
11. Copper
12. Mercury
13. Silver
14. Gold
15. Platinum
( Reactivity from highest to lowest )
Going from the bottom to the top of the table the metals:
1. increase in reactivity;
2. lose electrons (oxidize) more readily to form positive ions;
3. corrode or tarnish more readily;require more energy (and different methods) to be isolated from their compounds;
4. become stronger reducing agents (electron donors).
