In this question, we have to calculate according to the calendar of 2016. So, as we know that, 2016 is divisible by 4. So that, 2016 is the leap year which has 366 days in a year 2016.

As we know that, January is the month of 31 days. So, January = 31 days.

As we know that, February is the month of 28 or 29 days, but when there is a leap year, it has 29 days. Otherwise, it has 28 days because the year is in leap year. So, February = 29 days.

As we know that, March is the month of 31 days. So, March = 31 days.

According to the question,

The leave or holiday starts from 31st of January.

So that we have only 2 days of January and 29 days of February.

=> 2 days of January + 29 days of February

=> 2 + 29 = 31 days

Left days of the leave or holiday = 45 days - 31 days.

He was on leave till 14th of March.

So, he join his duty on 15th of March, 2016.
