When anemia exists in acuteinfections, it is due to several factors. Clearly, in a patient with malaria the main reason for anemia is the destruction of red blood cells by the parasite. In parvovirosis, on the other hand, anemia is secondary to the inhibition of medullary erythropoiesiscaused by this virus.
