Sickle cell anemia is a genetic disorder where the person has inherited a defective Haemoglobin Gene.

This defective haemoglobin gene produced red blood corpuscles that cannot carry a sufficient amount of oxygen. Moreover, the red blood corpuscles become "rigid and sticky" with a crescent moon shape.

This reduces their flow through the body. In addition, they cause pain to the individual due to their restricted movement through various tissues of the body.
