- life-threatening infections,
- pain lasting for few hours or few days.

Treatment:
There is no perfect treatment for sickle cell anemia.
The treatment of sickle cell anemia includes:
- Blood transfusion that improves transport of oxygen.
- Supplementary oxygen supply through mask.
- Immunization to prevent continues infections.
