since it is a right angled triangle,by pythagorus theorem,

h { }^{2}  = p {}^{2}  + b {}^{2}

here,it is obvious that the longer side (x+2) will be the hypotenus,perpendicular will be (x+1) and the base is x.

(x+2)square= (x+1)sq. +(x)sq.

xsq. + 4 +4x= xsq. +1 +2x+xsq.

xsq.+4+4x=2xsq. +1 +2x

-xsq. +3 +2x=0

xsq.-3-2x=0. (divinding lhs and rhs by -1optional step)

now,you can found out the value of x by applying the quadratic formula or by the factorization method.
