Spermatogenesis begins at puberty, when testosterone levels rise. In this respect, LH is as critical to spermatogenesis as testosterone. The role of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) in men is less sure. FSH promotes growth of testosterone receptors on Sertoli cells and seminiferous tubules, this is important.
