STORY NAME : THE LAST LEAF..

OLD BEHRMAN :

Old Behrman is a painter ,staying on the ground of the same building where Johnsy and Sue live.He has always wanted to paint a masterpiece but has never done it.He has only painted a advertisements and earn some money.

Behrman is a  fierce old man who regards him self as a watch dog for Sue and Jhonsy. He expresses his contempt for johnsy's irrational fear and undertakes the trouble of painting a leaf on the wall on a dark, windy and rainy night.

The leaf is his master piece not only because it is life like but it also instills confidence in a very sick girl who has given the desire to fight for her life.
His concern for and his uncaring attitude towards himself is cause of his own death.

Thus at the end because  f his supreme sacrifice he becomes an immortal character...
