A stupa (Sanskrit: "heap") is a mound-like or hemispherical structure.That is place which is used as a place of meditation.
The Great Stupa at Sanchi is one of the oldest stone structures in India . Built by Emperor Ashoka to honor Lord Buddha, the stupa stands proud as an icon of Sanchi. The great stupa is approximately 106 feet in diameter and 42 feet high and was begun by Ashoka but completed by his successors in the first or second century B.C.
