Silly, weird question but if a person was to be filled with a flow of current, wouldn't he be a conductor? And therefore would the spark discharge on the person?
Context in the textbook: "when the p.d becomes high enough, a spark may jump across the gap, from the object to any earthed conductor near to it"
and that "the spark discharges the charged object and could be felt as an electric shock".
