Plants with a taproot system are usually deep rooted while fibrous roots are much shorter, and are densely packed fine roots. The taproot system allows plants to anchor better, get sources of minerals and water from further into the ground than fibrous rooted plants.

Taproot is a root system where roots develop from a single nodule.these are usually deep rooted .thus the plant gets tightly anchored to the soil.
Fiberous root is a system where first a single root develops and further roots develop from it.these are not deep rooted and the plant is not properly anchored to the soil
