Answer:

Explanation:

People tend to live in plains more than in mountainous regions. Plains are more comfortable for agriculture, transport, Climate, development, City growth.

Mountains are rigid, difficult in laying rail and roadways. Airports need huge flats top of a mountain with no near obstructions. Winds are strong and rains are heavy, rivers are fast flowing, ground water isn't available easily. Mountain life is not suitable for many areas in modern world. Buildings can't expand in all directions due to slopes and elevations.

Most cities are in plains. If there is no near plain area available, plateaus are used for living than mountains. Most big cities are in coastal plains or Riverside plains. In mountainous countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Chile, Myanmar, Capital cities are located in mountain valleys. The expansion on these cities is lateral rather than radial as mountains restrict any expansion.
