★The dissimilarities between d.c. motor and a.c. generator are given below

  • D.C. Motor
  • A.C. Generator

1 ) It is a device which converts electrical energy (Voltage/Current) into mechanical energy. It is a device which converts mechanical energy into electrical energy (Voltage/Current).

2 ) It is the electricity in which voltage has constant polarity and current flows in same direction. It is the electricity in which voltage switches polarity (+ve to -ve & vice versa) and current flows back and forth (Changes direction periodically).

3 ) Split ring commutators are used to produce current in the same direction. Slip rings are used to produce current in alternating directions.

★The similarity between d.c motor and a.c. generator is that they both are electrical machines which work based on the principle of Electromagnetic Induction.
