(1) Management control focuses on the control of the whole organisation whereas task control is directed towards the control of one individual, one unit of the organisation.
(2) The management control, functions and steps within it, are framed in terms of strategies formulated by top/senior management. The task control functions are based on procedures and rules which are derived from management control and its requirements.
The compactness and objectivity in task control standards helps in developing definite conclusions whether the results are or are not as planned.
(4) Task control aims primarily at controlling things and performance, and such control may be purely direct, for example, to place an order for purchase of merchandise if inventory level falls below a point which can be indicated by a manual or computerised accounting system. On the other hand, management control primarily focuses on controlling individuals and involves human dynamics.
(5) In task control, most often, non-financial measures such as labour hours, number of units, quantity of waste, are used for control purposes. In task control, different types of measures can be used in different units or departments depending on the requirements. But, in management control, mostly financial or monetary measures are used for control purposes.
