Women empowerment means giving power or authority to women in all aspects. It means giving them equal opportunities in all fields, without any gender discrimination. We will discuss the ways through which women can be empowered in the below main body.

Earlier in our society, there was a lot of gender discrimination which only empowered the men. Men were considered to be the leaders of the society and family. They were considered more powerful than women. Men were the only one allowed to work, earn for they family and take the entire major decisions in society. Women were only bound to the four walls of their house and were responsible for doing household work. All these gender bias followed from the past has deteriorated the life of women physically, mentally and economically. So it is important for us to give equal opportunities for them. Here are few ways through which we can empower women:

1. We should start respecting women and start giving them opportunities equal to men.  

2. We should promote and encourage them to take up jobs, higher education, business activities, etc.  

3. The Government too has come up with various schemes such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana, Mahila-E-Haat, Mahila Shakti Kendra, Working Women Hostel, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, etc. to empower women.  

4. We should also abolish the social evils like dowry, sati etc.
