In the year 2016 the UN had set a sustainable development goal to accurately measure unpaid labor performed mostly by women.
It was a part of their broader goal to achieve gender equality and empowerment of women and girls.
In a 2014 world bank survey it was revealed that only 27% of the women have participated in any labor work but one of the reasons for such a low number is the wrong definition of 'economic activity' or 'labor' because a woman performing activities such as sewing, weaving or collecting goods for domestic purpose would not amount to an activity as opposed if performed for a third party.
