The two hydrocarbons can be easily distinguished by simple chemical tests, as ethyne molecule is supposed to have acidic hydrogen. 1.When ethyne is bubbled through ammoniacal silver nitrate solution , a yellow-white precipitate of silver acetylide would be formed.

Question was not clear. Ethane & ethane - (C2H6) is nothing but same If you mean difference between ethane (alkane) and ethene (alkene). Then, addition of bromine water to both alkane and alkene. In which ever case colour changes that compound is ethene (alkene). Ethane : CH₃ - CH₃ Ethene : CH₂ =CH₂ CH₃ - CH₃ + Br₂ → no reaction : no colour change CH₂ =CH₂ + Br₂ → CH₂(Br) - CH₂(Br) : colour change
