Quantum numbers are a set of values that describes the state of an electron including its distance from the nucleus, the orientation and type of orbital where it is likely to be found, and its spin. The Pauli exclusion principle states that no two electrons in an atom can have the same set ofquantum numbers.

=> An Atomic orbital can completely be described in terms of a set of four quantum number ( n,l,m,s ). The number which designate and distinguish various atomic orbital and electron present in an atom are called Quantum number . The Quantum number describe the shape , size , energy and orientation of atom. The Quantum number has divided into four part.

1) Principal Quantum number (n) => This Quantum number is represented by small (n). The principal Quantum number giving the information in which the principal shell to which electron belong.

2) Azimuthal Quantum number (l) => It is represented by small (l). Its value depend upon the value of principal Quantum number and it is provide the information in which sub shells in which the electron is present. It's value is 0 to n-1.

3) Magnetic Quantum number (m) => It gives us orientation of quantum number. A sub shells in an atom suppose to be compose of several orbital. It tells in which orbital an electron lies and it is depend on Azimuthal Quantum number. -l to +l.

4) Spin Quantum number (s) => It represents by (s) and account for the spin of electrons. The spin quantum number can have only two value.

+1/2 , -1/2
