Given expression is,

 {(2a + b)}^{3} - (2a - b)

  = {(2a)}^{3} + {b}^{3} + 3b {a}^{2} + 3a {b}^{2} - 2a + b

 = 8 {a}^{3} + {b}^{3} + 3 {a}^{2} b + 3a {b}^{2} - 2a + b

If 3 is used in the sense of multiplication,

3(2a+b) - (2a-b)

= 6a + 3b - 2a + b

= 4a + 4b

= 4(a+b)
