using
(a + b)(a - b) =  {a}^{2}  -  {b}^{2}
so
(4 +  \sqrt{3} )(4 -  \sqrt{3} ) \\  =  {4}^{2}  -  (\sqrt{3} ) {}^{2}  \\ 16 - 3 \\ 13
hope it helps

1st method :

= ( 4 + √3 ) ( 4 - √3 )

Let ( a = 4 ) , and ( b = √3 )

= ( a + b ) ( a - b )

= ( a² - b² )

By substituting the values a and b.

= { (4)² - ( √3 )² }

= { 16 - 3 }

= 13.

2nd method :

= ( 4 + √3 ) ( 4 - √3 )

= 4 ( 4 - √3 ) + √3 ( 4 - √3 )

= 16 - 4√3 + 4√3 - ( √3 × √3 )

= 16 - 0 - 3

= 13.

The final answer is 13.
