(a+1/a)² + (a-1/a)²

Put , (a+b)² + (a-b)²

= (a²+b²+2ab) + (a²+b²-2ab)

So,[ (a)² + (1/a)² + 2×a×1/a ] + [ (a²)+(1/a)²-2×a×1/a ]

= a² + 1/a² + 2 + a² + 1/a² - 2

= a² + a²+ 1/a²+ 1/a²

= 2a² + 2(1/a)² Ans.
