\textbf{Answer :}

Now,

(a² - b²) (a² + b²) - (a² - b²)²

= (a⁴ - b⁴) - (a⁴ - 2a²b² + b⁴),

using the identities

(x + y) (x - y) = x² - y²

and (x - y)² = x² - 2xy + y²

= a⁴ - b⁴ - a⁴ + 2a²b² - b⁴

= 2a²b² - 2b⁴
