Simplify each of the following expression
(i) 10x-7y-12x-(-8y)
(ii) 5y-2[3x-2(y-3x)]

Answer:

$10x - 7y - 12x - ( - 8y) \\ = 10x - 7y - 12x + 8y \\ = 10x - 12x - 7y + 8y \\ = - 2x \: + 1y$

$5y - 2(3x - 2(y - 3x)) \\ = 5y - 2(3x - 2y + 6x) \\ = 5y + 6x - 4y - 12x \\ = 5y - 4y + 6x - 12x \\ = y - 6x$
