Simplify each of the following :
(i) (x+3)³ + (x-3)³

(ii) (x/2 + y/3)³ - (x/2 - y/3)³

(iii) (x + 2/x)³ + (x +2/x)³

(iv) (2x-5y)³ - (2x+5y)³

By Using  identities:

a³ + b³ = (a + b)(a² + b² – ab)

a³ – b³ = (a – b)(a² + b² + ab)

(a + b)(a - b) = a² – b²

(a + b)²  = a² + b² + 2ab and

(a – b)² = a² + b² – 2ab

 

Given (i) (x + 3)³ + (x - 3)³

Here a = (x + 3) and b = (x - 3)

= (x + 3 + x - 3){(x + 3)² + (x - 3)² - (x + 3) (x - 3)}

= 2x {x² + 3² + 2  x × 3 + x² + 3² - 2 × x × 3 - ( x² - 3²)}

= 2x {x² + 9 + 6x + x² + 9 - 6x - x² + 9}

= 2x {x² + 9 + 9 + 9}

= 2x {x² + 27}

= 2x³ + 54x
