Simplify the following and solve: (recommended use identity)

(x - 1)(2x - 2(x - 2) + x - 3) = 48

AdiN05517: guys, the question is revised
AdiN05517: it is "(x - 1){2x - 2(x - 2) +x - 3} = 48"

Hello Mortals

Here's the solution,

( x - 1){2x - 2(x - 2) + x - 3} = 48

=> ( x - 1) { 2x - 2x + 4 + x - 3}. = 48

NoTe :- Here in previous step, +2x and - 2x gets cancel out, and remains only x. And +4 - 3 results in 1.

=> ( x - 1) (x + 1) = 48

NoTe :- Here it follows the rule ( a - b) ( a + b)
= a² - b²
So, x² - 1² = x² - 1.

=> x² - 1 = 48

=> x² = 49

=> x = ± 7
