Answer:

x = 2

Step-by-step explanation:

x√3= 1.46+x

⇒1.73x = 1.46+x

⇒1.73x-x= 1.46

⇒x= 0.73/1.46= 2

∴ x= 2

When you are given a linear equation in one variable, try to keep all the variable terms on one side and rest on the other side.

x√3 = 1.46 + x

take all x terms to one side. I am taking them to left.

x√3 - x = 1.46

=> x(√3 - 1) = 1.46

=> x(1.73 - 1) = 1.46

[remember the value of √3. It is 1.732. but I took 1.73 because 0.73×2 = 1.46 which will make the calculation easier.)
Also remember √2 = 1.414 or 1.41

=> x ( 0.73) = 1.46

=> x = 1.46/0.73

=> x = 2

even if you cross multiply, after some steps, you will have to do what is done above. So it's just a waste of time.

take the variables to one side and it will be faster.
