simran is twice as old as her son. in four years she will be four times as old as her son was 9 years ago. how old is each now

zeborg: Let Simran's age = x, Son's age = y. Eq. 1 : x = 2y, Eq. 2 : x+4 = 4(y-9), Put Eq. 1 = Eq. 2, you will get son's age, then put value of y in Eq. 1, you will get Simran's age.
niyatikansal: thanks

Simran is 40 and her son is 20 now. (44 in 4 years=(20-9)*4)

niyatikansal: can u show the calculation
ksjitc01: The equation provided by user Zeborg works fine here
yogeshvaswani: ok

let the age of simran is y and son is x years
if simran is twice than her son then we putting to equating both of age r
2x years =y years
now our question tell after 4 years simran 4 times age than his son so
we putting
for after 4 years then we putting ( 2x+4 ) years=(y +4 )

now our question after 4 years simran 4 times than his son so we added first both ages and now whole multiply both of ages by that tips
( 2x+4)4 years= (y+4)4years
so we solve that
and put x=9 years old u read that our question
so we getting by solving this question son age is 9 years ols and her mother 18 yearss old

niyatikansal: thank u so much
yogeshvaswani: i think my answer wrong ??
