Concept: The sine (sin), cosine (cos), tangent (tan), cotangent (cot), cosecant (cosec), and secant (sec) trigonometric ratios are the six trigonometric ratios . Trigonometry is a discipline of mathematics concerned with the sides and angles of right-angled triangles in geometry. As a result, trig ratios are calculated using sides and angles as inputs.

To prove: sin θ × sec θ = tan θ

Solution: Considering the LHS,

sin θ × 1/cos θ                      (since sec θ = 1/cos θ)

sin θ / cos θ

tan θ                                     ( tan θ = sin θ / cos θ)

Hence, LHS = RHS
