Steph0303: It is actually Sin^2 x = 1/2
akanksha135: ohh sorry!
Steph0303: Sorry Sin^2 x = 2/4 which means on taking roots we get, root 2 / 2 which is 1/ root 2.... Answer must be 45 :)
akanksha135: yeah yeah! I didn't noticed that! Sorry!
akanksha135: It should be 45
akanksha135: :p
Steph0303: No worries.. Correct your answer :)

Answer:

x = 45°

Step-by-step explanation:

Sin²x + Cos² 30 = 5/4

⇒ Sin²x + ( √3/2 )² = 5/4

⇒ Sin²x + 3/4 = 5/4

⇒ Sin²x = 5/4 - 3/4

⇒ Sin²x =2/4 = 1/2

Taking Square roots on both sides we get,

⇒ Sin x = √ ( 1 / 2 ) = ± 1/√2

We know that Sin has value of 1/√2 only when it is 45°.

Hence x = 45° if it is + 1/√2

For negative 1/√2 we need to take 45° in different quadrants.

Thanks !!
