Hello friend! Thanks for asking question, here is the answer.


Since the hypotenuse (denominator) is always greater than the opposite or adjacent side (numerator), the ratio will always be smaller than one. That is why when the sin thita is in first and second quadrant its sign is positive while negative in third and fourth quadrant.

arunav123aps: It goes back to the definition (one of many) that for a right triangle, the sine is the opposite side divided by the hypotenuse. Since any side is always ≤ the hypotenuse, the ratio has to be ≤ 1.
